Hi guys, George here again!
Studying at Bournemouth University has been one of the most difficult but rewarding experiences of my life so far, with only one year left I am absolutely petrified but also so excited to create new projects, learn new approaches and aim for the best grade that I can achieve! As part of my degree, it was required for me to do 4 weeks’ worth of work experience, which is why I am here at Student Works. Bournemouth University is located on the South Coast of England (same town as the Student Works office!) and has approximately 20,000 students enrolled there.
Like many universities in the UK, Bournemouth University accommodates to a large number of International Students who attend the University. The best thing about it is the fact that there is no divide between the students. I have some friends at University who have come from Spain, France and Italy and they are treated no differently than the rest of us by other students, teachers or the University as a whole. Bournemouth is extremely welcoming to International Students and even offer pathway courses to help gain the qualifications for foundation degrees and a Master’s degree for those who already have a degree. The International College also represents over 40 nationalities showing just how many people they offer their services to.
Even after Freshers week has finished, there are plenty of events and activities that International Students can get involved with to feel part of the UK culture. If partying is not your thing, there are some amazing sites to see either along the South Coast and all over the UK. From the breath-taking views on the Jurassic Coast, to the big city sites in London.
With the help of Student Works, you could be living in the UK, studying at one of our amazing Universities and living in one of our rooms with other people in the same position as you. This is a brilliant way to improve your English, improve your qualifications and is also a fantastic opportunity to make friends and memories.
